My Poem from 2010 with a little editing!
In the land where ancient legends dwell,
Where history's tapestry weaves its spell,
There lies a nation proud and strong,
A land of beauty and a timeless song.
Ethiopia,
jewel of the African soil,
With landscapes vast and rivers that toil,
From rugged mountains to the Rift Valley's grace,
A myriad of wonders, each in its own embrace.
In the
highlands, where Simien peaks aspire,
Where the air is crisp and the spirits higher,
The Ethiopian wolf roams free and wild,
A symbol of resilience, nature's cherished child.
Beneath the
sun's gaze, the fields come alive,
As farmers toil, their hopes and dreams thrive,
With golden wheat and coffee trees,
The fruits of labor, the whispers of breeze.
In Lalibela's
ancient rock-hewn churches,
Carved with devotion, in sacred searches,
Faith finds its sanctuary, a testament profound,
Where pilgrims gather, their spirits unbound.
Axum, a
treasure trove of history's might,
Where obelisks stand tall, reaching for light,
Guardians of empires, stories untold,
Whispered secrets of kingdoms of old.
From the Blue
Nile's rush to Lake Tana's calm,
The waters flow, a soothing balm,
Life's sustenance, a source of dreams,
Nurturing the land, where abundance gleams.
But
Ethiopia's true beauty lies not only in its land,
But in its people, united, hand in hand,
With cultures diverse, a tapestry so grand,
Ethiopia's heart beats strong, a nation so grand.
So let us
celebrate Ethiopia's grace,
Its vibrant spirit, its enduring embrace,
A land of legends, of ancient mystery,
Ethiopia, forever etched in history.
